URETHRA

Description:

As a tube carrying urine outside the body as waste, it is longer in males than females. In males, it also carries semen and is separated into four segments: the prepostatic, prostatic, membranous, and spongy urethra. In females it is shorter, increasing the chance of urinary tract infection. It is lined with epithelium and secretes mucus.
