ABDOMEN

Description:

This region is separated from the chest with the diaphragm. This area is in charge of protecting organs, trunk movement, and posture. The erector spinae and quadratus lumborum in the back contract and bend to help keep the body straight. In the pelvic areas, the gluteus maximus and hamstrings help with supporting the body, while the psoas major and iliacus help rotate the hip.

Diseases and Conditions

Abdominal Strain

A tear or rupture caused by overuse, lifting heavy objects, and sudden twisting. It can lead to sudden pain, cramping, and difficulty walking. This can be prevented by stretching before exercising and maintaining good posture.

Abdominal Muscle Spasm

Involuntary contraction makes the muscle stiff and tender. It can be caused by dehydration and fatigue and can affect digestive organs.
