Description:

A saclike organ in the pelvis that can expand after it stores more urine carried by the ureter. When filled, the muscle tissue becomes thinner and the sphincters open, carrying urine to the urethra. The internal sphincter prevents the leaking of urine, while the trigone base prevents damage to the ureters or urethra.
